Before You Begin
- You must be 17 years of age to drive a car. The only exceptions to this rule are those who receive Disability Living Allowance who are allowed to drive from the age of 16.
- You need a Provisional Licence. You can obtain a form for this from the Post Office. You must check your licence carefully when it arrives and when you are sure all details are correct sign it to make it valid.
- You must be able to read a number plate at a distance of 20 metres or about 67 feet.
- Please note: You are not allowed to drive on your own on a public road until you have passed your driving test.
You Need to Pass Two Tests
- The Theory Test, which is a multiple choice test, also including an interactive Hazard Perception test. This test is computerised. The cost to take this test is £28.00.
